Thank you for booking for Sorted Nano 2019. We’re very much looking forward to seeing you on Saturday 11th May at St Helen’s church, Bishopsgate.  Here is some key information about the day.

Teaching

Ed Surrey (Youth Minister at St Leonard’s, Exeter) will be teaching on “First | Last”, where Jesus tells the man who has everything that he has nothing. He tells the rich to become poor. He says the poor will be rich. He says the one who worked least gets paid the most. He calls the worker his friend. Jesus turns everything upside down, declaring the first, last and the last, first. How? Because he’s the one who was dead and is now alive.

There will be three varied, interactive sessions aimed at 11-14 year olds.

Location

St Helen’s church, Bishopsgate, EC3A 6AT.  The easiest way to travel is by tube to Liverpool Street, Bank or Aldgate.

Lunchtime/Afternoon

If the weather is fine, there is space in front and to the side of St Helen’s to eat lunch. If it is raining we aren’t able to eat inside the building, so it will be over to leaders to make their own wet weather plans. You could consider heading off to Leadenhall market or Spitalfields market.

At the end of the event we suggest that groups make the most of a fun day out in London. This year we are again providing everything you will need for your group to take part in an exciting wide game out in London after the event.

More details of the game will be available to view on the Nano pages of the Capital Youthworks website from 10th April. Please note that although we are providing all the resources for the game, individual youth leaders will take sole responsibility for the safety of the young people that they bring once outside St Helen’s.

Safety

When you arrive and check in you will be given wristbands for each member of your group on the day. For security reasons we ask that all of your group wear those wristbands.

We would ask you to remain with your group at all times throughout the day please, but do also ensure that your group have your mobile number in case they get lost.  If you have an emergency on the day, you can contact a member of the Sorted Nano team on 07905 737761. Please do not use this number for other more general queries prior to the event. General enquiries should be directed to the St Helen’s Church office 020 7283 2231.

Please encourage your groups to bring:

  • Money for the bookstall & anything you plan to do in the afternoon
  • Packed lunch
  • A pen
  • A Bible (or you can use those provided)

We long that Sorted Nano is of great benefit to your year round ministry with the young people you bring. Consequently we have planned the day to maximise the chances you get to have fun with your groups as well as time chatting together about what we’ll have learnt from the Bible. In order to make best use of the discussion time you may find it useful to read through Matthew 19:16-20:16 a few times beforehand.

You might also wish to familiarise your group with Hillsong’s “Crowns” song before the event. We will ensure we choose songs that are familiar to as many as possible, but there may be some who don’t know “Crowns” and we will singing this a couple of times throughout the morning.

Lastly, please do pray for all of the Sorted Nano team as we get ready, especially for Ed as he prepares to speak.  We will be praying for you as you prepare to join us and follow up the teaching in your groups.

We look forward to seeing you on 11th May!
